Earning World of Hyatt Points: Other Ways
The best way to use your points is through hotel stays, with an average value of $0.017 per point. An award stay can get as low as 5,000 points per night and as high as 60,000 points per night.

The World of Hyatt award chart is extremely straightforward and easy to understand. There’s only one award price per room type per hotel category. Other programs such as Hilton Honors, use dynamic award pricing that make it harder and more time-consuming for you to maximize your points.
You can still redeem for an award stay by using a combination of points and cash if you find yourself lacking the appropriate amount of points. The total cost depends on the hotel category and the rate for standard rooms.

Hyatt points can contribute to an upgrade in your stay. The amount of points you’ll need depends on the type of room you want to upgrade to:

You can only upgrade using points on stays paid with cash. Unfortunately, award stays cannot be upgraded.
If you have a long stay, upgrading your room using points may cost the same as a standard room award. This option is more ideal if you have a special occasion or excess points that you need to use. otherwise, we suggest one of the other options.
You can use your Hyatt points towards your bill. This is a great option if you want to upgrade your stay through rewards at the spa or hotel restaurant:

It should be noted that hotel credits aren’t the best way to redeem your World of Hyatt rewards. This is because the value of the points is not as high as they would be for hotel stays. You’ll get a range of $0.005 to $0.0083 for each point.
You can use your Hyatt points at the all-inclusive resorts below:

It’s also possible to use your points, or a combination of points and cash, at Miraval resorts:
Award pricing for Miraval resorts may seem pretty high, but award stays will also come with all the amenities you can imagine.
It’s also possible to use your Hyatt points for stays at participating M life Rewards destinations in Las Vegas:
M life Rewards Destination | Points Required |
Excalibur | 12,000 per night |
New York – New York | 12,000 per night |
Chicago | 15,000 per night |
Park MGM Las Vegas | 15,000 per night |
MGM Grand | 15,000 per night |
The Mirage | 20,000 per night |
Mandalay Bay | 20,000 per night |
The Signature at MGM Grand | 20,000 per night |
Vdara | 2o,000 per night |
Delano Las Vegas | 25,000 per night |
Bellagio | 25,000 per night |
This option is not as recommended because prices often slashed at Las Vegas properties.
It’s easy to figure out how many Hyatt points you’ll need for an SLH award stay by using the table below:
Category | Hyatt Points |
1 | 5,000 per night |
2 | 8,000 per night |
3 | 12,000 per night |
4 | 15,000 per night |
5 | 20,000 per night |
6 | 25,000 per night |
7 | 30,000 per night |
8 | 40,000 per night |

World Of Hyatt Tips & Tricks
So now that we’ve gone over how to earn and redeem your points, let’s go over some extra pointers that will maximize your rewards.
World of Hyatt and American Airlines AAdvantage work hand in hand to help members that are a part of both programs, much like the RewardsPlus partnership between Marriott Bonvoy and United MileagePlus.
Link your World of Hyatt account with your AAdvantage account to enjoy the following benefits:

You do not get automatic perks of a higher status. American Airlines selects certain World of Hyatt Explorist members for the opportunity to fast track. Simply being an Explorist does not guarantee a status match. However, we still recommend linking your accounts to double dip and enjoy more perks.
You can also earn bonus points on your stays through special promotions that World of Hyatt offers. Past offers included:
- Earn 500 bonus points for booking your stay through the new Hyatt mobile app. Promotion ends September 30, 2019.
- Earn double credit towards elite status for Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva stays. You must register by October 31, 2019. Promotion ends November 23, 2019.
Make sure to subscribe to the World of Hyatt newsletter, so you don’t miss out on any good deals.
As a World of Hyatt member, you can earn points on up to three rooms at the same time. It should be noted that you can only earn tier qualifying nights on one room each night.
Most hotel loyalty programs will let you earn points on only one room per night.
If you book directly with Hyatt but you find a better rate elsewhere for your stay, Hyatt will match it. Plus, you’ll get a choice of an additional 20% of your rate or 5,000 bonus Hyatt points.
Hyatt Prive and Virtuoso are invitation-only programs for luxury travel agents. When you book your stay with a Hyatt Prive agent or via the Virtuoso website, you’ll get a much better deal than booking directly on the official Hyatt site.
Rates are similar and you’ll earn the same number of Hyatt points, but you’ll also get additional perks at participating Andaz, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Park Hyatt and The Unbound Collection hotels.
Benefits include:
- $50 – $100 property credit per room per stay
- 1 category room upgrade (confirmed within 24 hours after booking)
- Daily full breakfast for 2
- Early check-in (from 9am, subject to availability)
- Late checkout (to 4pm, subject to availability)
- Welcome letter & gift
Similar perks are available when you book with your American Express credit card through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts.
World of Hyatt allows you to earn 500 airline miles per hotel stay rather than Hyatt points. However, this is option is rarely worth it because you’ll only get 500 miles, no matter how much you spend or how long you stay.
If you decide that you would like to take advantage of this feature, you can do so from your profile settings. You must present both your World of Hyatt and airline loyalty member numbers when you check-in.
Points are easily transferred, without fees. This option is great if you:
- Want to consolidate points into your spouse’s elite status account
- Want a Globalist member to book you a Guest of Honor reservation
As a Guest of Honor, you’ll be entitled to receive Globalist hotel perks. Like 4pm late check out, complimentary suite upgrades and club lounge access.
You can also share eligible awards – free nights, Points + Cash, select room upgrades and more – with any World of Hyatt member.
