An added benefit of owning an AMEX card now is that you’ll see more extensions on benefits, that are non-air-related, which will provide more utility to the card in general. This is according to the AMEX CEO Stephen J. Squeri. He was asked in a recent quarterly earnings conference call if AMEX has seen a shift in the consumers demand for the cards. And this was his response. There will be more perks and AMEX intended to lead the way. There is an obvious concern over competition, and the increased extensions on benefits is something that should be good for the consuming public.

my american express is my fav of 7 cards always great to me on the phone just redeemed my points for 50 dollars of my bill I wasnt another 1 sorry you havent had my luck with them. maybe choose a different 1

In reply to Kris. did you designate your airline at the beginning of the year? And as you know, the increase to 195$ AF is offset by your $100 airline credit.

Amex refused to pay my $80 change fee under the airline fee rewards coverage for their rewards gold card. They have dropped the 15000 points if one spends $30k/yr and also upped the fee to $195. No value in keeping my card.
