But you may want to indicate that CA availability seems limited to residents of Riverside County. That is what I found when I started to apply on line (thankfully the application asked for my California zip code (LA county) and promptly reported to me that only Riverside County is served). I’m not going to try to talk my way past that.

Also, happy to report that Bank of the West just confirmed (oct 2018) that my ach transfer I requested at ally bank into bank of the west was considered “direct deposit” for its current promo. (and it shows up “DirDep” on the activities/transactions page to boot)
