I reported citizens to the consumer financial protection bureau several years ago when they refused my bonus. Did the same as you and spoke to the CEO. Still refused. They only give the bonus with a promo code or if they mail you and offer. Otherwise you will be very lucky to get a bonus from them.

So if you want to apply for this promo, be prepared: take a screenshot of their offer, including fine prints, and call them to clarify anything that’s not clear. Write down the date of the phone call and what you clarified. If they don’t pay out the bonus by the promised date, there are gov agencies you can report banks to, and they will investigate this bank if we report what happened. Reading comments here, I just can not believe this bank has tried to scam people for years with same tricks. They recently went public if I remember it correctly. Good luck with this poor reputation. I’ll never invest in cheaters, for one thing.

This seems somewhat contradictory to the qualifications that mention not having a prior account in the past 6 months. “Qualifications: Primary signer on the new checking and savings accounts may not be or have been a signer on any Citizens personal checking or savings account within the previous six months.”
