    I opened a chase checking account Oct 2019 and received a $200 bonus 3 days after my direct deposit hit. You have to keep the account open for at least 6 months or be charged back the bonus. Maintain the requirements or be charged the monthly fee. Loved how quick i got the bonus but didn’t see how long i had to keep the account open.

    I went into a Chase branch yesterday with a coupon code good for $300. After I opened the account and signed up for direct deposit the banker told me he received an “error code” stating I was NOT eligible for the $300?? What the???!!?? He couldn’t explain it to me and when I questioned him he told me he would talk to his Branch Manager when he returned and get it “straightened out.” I called customer service today 800.935.9935 and while the CSR was very friendly she couldn’t “figure it out” either. If something sounds too good to be, it probably is. 🙁

    Very Impressive the variety and the large sums of money with this Chase give away.. However, we do not want your money. My poor mother is over 75 years old and you are still charging her a monthly maintenance fee in her accounts. The only reason that she is with Chase bank is that you are the only bank in her area. Can you please DO NOT offer us money but have at least one kind of account whichever you want it: Chase Liquid, Savings or something with no fees for Senior Citizens who have no direct deposit and no large sums of money. Poor people also have money, just not enough to pay monthly fees.

    I got a $300 chase bonus in the mail, was excited by that. I called customer service to make sure that my last account was not closed within the last 90 days. I proceeded to open my account; now i’m having issues with getting my bonus. Apparently, the three separate people I spoke to about my last account were wrong. I was told it was closed in December; it wasn’t until the bank manager researched it that she then told me that the last account was closed in January instead. I have already forwarded this to the BBB; and i’m trying to make them understand that the information i based my decision on was wrong, and was from their customer service. This is the first time i’ve used a chase coupon and it’s been a disaster. They pretty much told me that unless i tell them the names of the 3 people i spoke to, they really is nothing i can do. I told the guy from corporate I wasn’t satisfied. Is there any advice you can give about this situation?

    better talk to manager directly. if you did not use coupon before, I do not see why you can’t close the old one and apply the coupon to the new one.

    But again, Chase can be not trusty. Once I earned the cash reward, Chase management dept (hidden in the back) cancelled all my Chase credit cards and forfeited all my cash reward without notifying me or gave any reasons. I fought with Chase for couple months only got the earned cash reward but never my credit cards. I figured the reason behind was Chase when customers did not fall into their interest debt trap, instead earning cash rebate, they cancelled your cards and ruin your credit history.

    1. New customer is someone who doesn’t have a Chase account for the past 6 months.

    2. One bonus per year, must wait 6 months to be considered new customer.

    3. Hit or miss with Paypal. Try different ACH transfer from different bank to see.

    A couple of Newbie questions please:

    1. What constitutes a “new” customer?
    If you have a joint account with a spouse.. would a new individual account count?

    2. If not, if you close your acct.. how long to wait before you can reopen and get the bonus?

    3. Direct deposits… I saw a mention of Paypal here once.
    Could I instigate a payment every month (spouse, or myself) from Paypal and have this qualify?

    I currently have a Total Checking account with chase. Would I qualify for the $300 bonus if I open the Preferred Checking account and/or $300 bonus for the Preferred Savings?

    There is a Chase $500 coupon on ebay that is going for .99 cents, too bad I already have an account otherwise this is a pretty good deal.
