Regarding the Simple offer – you should be aware that when you open an account online it creates a “safe to spend” account (checking) and not a “protected goals” (savings) account. The bonus is tied to the savings account, so make sure the $10k gets parked there by the deadline and doesn’t remain in the checking account.
FYI:
Webster bank does use and is particularly anal about Chex. I opened an account on phone with an agent’s help and it was apparently successful but then they pounced on me and closed my account a couple days later citing Chex.
Iberia bank’s online form is very particular about your driver’s license also being from one of the states to which they are limited. So just having an address in one of those states doesn’t suffice.
PNC bank gave a bonus last year and I closed the account over a year back but when I tried again this year, they said I’ll either get an email within 2-4 days if successful or get a letter within 10 days if unsuccessful. It’s been over 5 days, so I am guessing they rejected my application. It is also possible they rejected based on Chex as opposed to because I previously got a bonus with them.
Westfield bank doesn’t explicitly define “new customer”, but you won’t qualify for a bonus if you have ever had a relationship with them in the past, even if it was more than 12 months in the past.
Thanks for all the compilation on this site. You can earn a few grand a year if you are carefully organized with a spreadsheet of all the requirements and dates and can easily change direct deposits online. Machine learning is resulting in these silly promotions — the banks are treating correlations in behavior patterns of legitimate long-term customers (like direct deposit, qualifying transactions, etc.) as causality — but I suppose it still works in their favor in the majority of cases.

Once you open the advance account they allow the advance credit card with $250 bonus. That is $600…total, sign your wife up, just reverse your names as owner. The $100,000 is way to small return on your money

Regarding HSBC Premier checking $750 bonus, I was not too happy when I found out that they would give the bonus within EIGHT weeks after the 90 days of $100k was held in the account. If you took the whole time in to consideration, you could have made much more at the then best rate of 1.85% for 5 months(I.e 90 days + eight weeks). It would give me $773, instead of 750. And I made sure to comment everywhere where this deal was advertised.
BUT SURPRISE:
I funded my account on 07/17 and got my bonus on 11/05 without any reminder to HSBC. Just for ease, if you round up the time to be 4 months, I have been rewarded with a nice 2.25% of interest! Was a great deal. Worked out great for me! Hope it does for everyone else too.

I DD is when the receiving financial institution has transaction authority to receive a transfer.
(You tell your payroll dept, social security, insurance company to automatic use a certain financial destination for recurring payments)
Transferring funds from SallieMae to a financial institution on a recurring basis should be an
ACH transfer from SallieMae.
I don’t do direct deposits from bank from SallieMae to the bank.
When I make a ACH transfer it will be from a financial institution to the Payee setup up from the financial institution. If you set up from the Payee a transfer from a financial institution it would be a direct payment. My ACH are Etrade, CapitalOne360, and currently SallieMae financial institutions each allowing up to 3 external accounts for free.
Can anybody explain how to make ACH payments instead of direct payments amd in what bank to open account for such actions. I’m in NY

Great Work. Years ago (5+) I did the Chase coupons at $125 to open 4 accounts (NJ & NY) and receive the bonuses; currently maintaining $500 ACH credit transfers to all 4 accounts through various banks
By the way the best ACH credit banks are Etrade and Capitalone360 very easy and convenient.

Contacted my local Capital one Bank in New york state and inquired about their $400 bonus promotion using promo code TC8 and they told me unless I was sent a promo letter in the mail then this promotion is not available.

While I definitely appreciate your work in finding and listing bank account bonuses, the number of expired bonuses on this page is quite large. The “January 2016” list still contains 4 nationwide bonuses that expired in 2015 (out of 43 total), and there are another 35 state specific bonuses that expired by the end of last year, the oldest having expired in March of 2015 (out of 157 total). There are 5 more referral bonuses that expired in 2015 too. Is there a reason why expired offers are not removed immediately after their valid application period has passed? Having them in your list gives the impression that it is not being diligently maintained.
We will continue to add and delete bank bonuses. Thanks for the input.
Please remove all of the expired bonuses, as they really make searching for bonuses more time consuming. Also, the BMO Harris bonus is $250 ($200 from recurring direct deposit of $300 + $50 more from enabling paperless statements) and it now expires 2/8/2016. Finally, the PNC bonus was not nationwide for the last month of its valid offer period, plus and it is now expired anyway.

Capital One 360 is the best deal bar none. Their promotion is straight forward. Their bonus is cold hard cash. No gimmicks, variable rates that hit bottom the next day, “up-to’s” etc. You do not have to give a code, apply though a blog or forum, or look through various pages in order to find their regular rate, then multiply it by 5 (e.g. Citibank) and find that their promotional rate is still lower than Capital 360, Ally or Synchrony. At Capital One 360 they do exactly what they tell you and are very helpful and reliable for an online bank. For once in my life a bank is paying me. Ally and Synchrony are next in my banking quest. They have a 1% interest rate in savings. I do not believe that my generation even remembers a time when banks were giving you an interest rate on savings and checking (not talking about CDs) that did not have a row of zeros before the % sign. Now that I know that it can be done I am pissed at the tellers at my regular bank who offer me their lousy promotional rates. I ask them if they can match my favorite online banks and their answer is invariably no.
The list above shows Provident with a $150 bonus, but the Review page indicates the bonus as $100. Regardless, Provident is not currently offering any bonus for new personal accounts UNLESS you apply in person during a community event where the bank has a booth.

I guess the reality is that a lot depends on who you talk to. I have done many of these and U.S. Bank was probably the quickest to give me the bonus. In the event of an issue I find that using social media seems to help. I assume it’s because the banks don’t want a bunch of messages on their Twitter or Facebook pages talking about how bad their customer service is. So if you keep having trouble with your U.S. Bank bonus use their Twitter acct to ask for customer sercice.

I had a greqt experience with U.S. Bank I just got my 50.00 gift card for having one thousand dollars in my savings and got 200.00 a week ago for opening a checking and having 2 direct deposits hit. Incidentally, I was able to satisfy the direct deposit requirement by transferring the money from an outside checking account.
You need to complaint to the CFPB. I got the bonus 3 years in a row. When I tried again this year, they intercepted my application and did no hard pull and then broke the bad news. I’ve had banks do far worse under the circumstances. If they’re going around allowing you to open the account etc. then they need to get over it. I always did way more “activities” on my accounts with them due to that line about “only for the bonus”. The line isn’t new, its been there for a couple years at least.

Even if meet all the criteria, they have the right to refuse your bonus and accounts for no reason at all,, or if they just believe you won’t stick around.

BBVA Compass did a hard pull yesterday when I opened a checking account. It’s listed as a soft pull here, so it might be different for different people, but it’s definitely not a soft pull for everyone.
I must warn everyone about my experience with Salem Five Bank
Don’t open a account with them and try to get the $100.00 bonus gift card. I followed all of their rules. and did the 20 debit cards and had the account open for 6 months. By the way a new line was added which deals with some people that just open an account just for the bonus card. it now said that for the purpose of getting the bonus money. anyway don’t waste your time with this bank…!!
after a number of calls that by the way they told me on the phone that i had met their requirements for the gift card program. and that they would have to call the marketing dept.to find out what the trouble was. I never got a call back from them. the last call i made was 2 weeks ago and was told that i appeared to just open a account just to get the gift card to them and would not get the gift card.
So in short don’t bother with this back you won’t see the money!!!!

I found the information for my area to be incorrect and/or bogus. Even the $50 Capital One deal was bogus. And in the meantime, they have all of your personal information for marketing purposes. I believe that is the real reason for the “offer” — to get you to give up your account infornation. You are really applying for Credit, which you may not want nor need.
Based on my experience, some of these deals are actually not available unless you receive an offer through the mail. For instance, just today I tried to open an account at local U.S. Bank to obtain the deal for $150 “power up yr summer–150POWR” linked above. The local agent was told by U.S. Bank central office that the deal was only available to those that received offer through regular mail (even though there is nothing about that in fine print on U.S. Bank web page containing the offer.

@Marc – If you are having trouble with offers that require direct deposit, that is easily solved now with creative tools like:
Square Reader from AMEX:- only 2.75% fee. Direct deposit made easily to the checking account of your choice the next day.
GoIntuit Card Reader :- 2.75% fee – Same type of set up.
Then there is also ING Direct -bank transfer that usually qualify as an ACH.
Anyway, just a few ideas to help your direct deposit challenge.

One of the ones on my prospective list that I would be concerned about is America’s Credit Union:
“The checking account must remain open for 12 months and have direct deposit or the $100 bonus will be debited (subtracted) from the account balance at closing.”
But regardless, this is probably the most up to date and comprehensive list of banking promotions I’ve come across. I’ll try to remember to come back here and post the specific banks I’ve used to become (hopefully) $6-$700 richer. 😉
No need for recurring once the bonus has been deposited. The CSRs just scarring you to stop. However, for your Chase example, you do need to keep the Chase account to be opened for at least six months.
When you open accounts with some of these banks and you initiate direct deposit, do any of them require it to be recurring?
I’ve had luck with Chase and BBVA Compass in the past. (I set up direct deposits with them and they haven’t subtracted the bonus after I stopped my direct deposits.)
But some of the CSR’s I’ve talked to for the banks above claim that you need it to be recurring. (Some CSR claimed she NEVER heard of anyone setting up direct deposit and suddenly stopping it.)
